World Heritage Biodiversity Scholarship Programme, Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, Chamoli Garhwal, Uttarakhand

As part of the WII-UNESCO Project ‘Building Partnerships to Support World Heritage Programme in India' unique programme of providing World Heritage Biodiversity (WHB) Scholarships @ 500/month are being provided to 50 school going (5th to 10th class) students of local communities and wards of frontline forest staff of NDWHS. All the villages (47) of the buffer zone of the site (which is spread over three districts of Uttarakhand viz. Chamoli, Bageshwar & Pithoragarh) have been covered under this programme. The scholars are acting as ambassadors of this project and participating in the interpretation & awareness programmes concerning the conservation and management of this world heritage site.
