WII-ENVIS centre is celebrating the World Wildlife Day on 3rd March 2017 at WII auditorium. On this day in 1973, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), was signed by members of the United Nations General Assembly. This event is organised to raise awareness and for greater engagement of youth in wildlife conservation issues. The theme for World Wildlife Day 2017 is “Listen to the Young Voices” which encourages youth around the world to rally together to address ongoing major threats to wildlife including habitat alteration, over-exploitation and illegal wildlife trade.
The event will have talks by distinguished personalities in the field of wildlife conservation followed by an extempore speech competition on the theme of wildlife conservation issues around the neighbourhood and in the country.
